Elon Musk Joins First Trump Family Photo Post-Election: ‘Whole Squad’

Tech billionaire Elon Musk appeared in a photo shared on social media alongside President-elect Donald Trump and his family, fueling speculation about Musk’s relationship and role with the new administration.
The photo, posted by Kai Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s daughter, was captioned The Whole Squad, and features Trump, his five children, five grandchildren and Musk. Notably, first lady Melania Trump was absent from the image.
Newsweek has contacted the Trump campaign for comment via email outside of normal office hours.
The image, posted on X, formerly Twitter, quickly went viral, sparking excitement and curiosity across social media.
Musk’s presence, next to RNC cochair Lara Trump, has raised questions about the tech billionaire’s involvement with the next administration.
His alignment and closeness with Trump’s inner circle could signal potential collaborations or advisory roles in policy areas where Musk’s interests—such as space exploration, AI, and energy—overlapping with the new administration’s goals.
So far, there has been no official statement regarding Musk’s role or intentions with the incoming administration. However, the billionaire’s inclusion in such a high-profile family photo suggests his influence may be felt in unexpected ways in the coming years.
The Trump family gathered for a reunion after the election, looking forward to a new term in the White House.

Trump, who won the popular vote for the first time in three attempts, was surrounded by his family, except for his current wife. Trump’s third wife, Melania, was missing after speaking earlier in the day.
The former and future first lady said in a social media post after her husband’s stunning comeback victory: “The majority of Americans have entrusted us with this important responsibility. We will safeguard the heart of our republic—freedom,” she said.
“I anticipate the citizens of our nation rejoining in commitment to each other and rising above ideology for the sake of individual liberty, economic prosperity, and security. American energy, skill, and initiative will bring together our best minds to propel our nation forward forevermore.”
Melania accompanied her husband to vote on Election Day, sporting sunglasses, and later stood beside him, smiling proudly, during his victory speech Tuesday night in Palm Beach, Florida.
As of Thursday morning, Trump had 295 electoral votes to Vice President Kamala Harris’ 226. He’s also leading in the popular vote, with 72 million compared with Harris’ 67 million. Two states, Nevada and Arizona, have not been called yet.
Melania made rare and brief appearances on the campaign trail. But several were notable, including one at the former president’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City in October.
She also delivered a keynote speech at the Republican National Convention in July.
The former first lady recently embarked on a tour to promote her memoir.
During Trump’s first administration, the former first lady did not move into the White House until June.
When asked on Fox & Friends last month about the possibility of returning to the White House, Melania hinted that she would accompany her husband to Washington, D.C.
“I’m not anxious because this time is different. I have much more experience, much more knowledge.” She added, “I was in the White House before, so when you go in, you know exactly what to expect.”
